The family pet dog is becoming more and more of a family member. I’m not sure why, but it seems like families are treating their pet dogs as more of a family member than when I was raised. I am not saying that is bad, but just different.
When I was raised, I don’t think mom and dad really thought much about our family dog. Sure, I think they liked the animal. I think they were happy to take care of the dog, but I’m not sure they did it because all of us boys liked the animal or if they did it for some other reason.
In any event, the family pet dog in today’s world has become another member of the family. Since they have become a part of the family, we all need to think about their safety. This is especially important here in Houston.
There are a lot of home swimming pools here in the Houston area. I see an awful lot of these pools that are not protected by a really safe swimming pool fence. Many of them have a fence, but the fence is often too far away from the swimming pool to be classified as a really safe pool fence. All too often I see that the fence was assembled to protect a back yard, but not the pool itself.
Take a look at the pool fence in the picture at the top of this article. That pool fence is in the backyard, but it is assembled only a few feet away from the pool. It has a self-closing and self-locking pool fence gate. Family children and the family pet dog are safe around this pool.
Watch the video below to see the problems with a residential pool that has a pool fence that is not properly erected.
The Family Pet Dog Nearly Drowns In This Pool
In this video, a woman in Murfreesboro, Tennessee has to jump into an ice, cold swimming pool to find her family pet dog. It’s not easy! Can you imagine how cold and miserable she is? She is lucky that she finds the dog. She does eventually find’s the dog even though the dog is unconscious.
Fortunately, she lived close to a vet’s office. The vet was able to resuscitate and save the dog.
As you can see from this video, there is a pool fence. The pool fence is more around the backyard than the pool. This type of pool fence is not the type of residential pool fence that you want. This type of fence will not adequately protect your children or your family pets.
