Use Caution When Saving Someone From Drowning

There are very few things that make people feel hesitant about owning a pool, but one of those things is the thought of someone drowning. If you have kids, this is an even more serious concern and all precautions have to be taken. With that said, it’s important to know what to do in case of an emergency regardless of the safety levels you create for your pool environment.

Next, read the following tips… these tips will help you save a life if you happen to find yourself in a situation when someone is drowning.

Most Importantly… Call For Help Before Taking Action

It doesn’t matter if you and the person drowning seem to be all alone. There might be someone out there who could hear your call for help. Call for help as loudly as you can before you take action. It should take no effort and it can be done while you rush to help the person in danger.

Look for anything that floats

Before you jump in the pool, lake or ocean, look for a flotation device that can help you stay afloat. Don’t forget that people who are drowning are in a state of panic and a flotation device is always helpful. If you can’t find anything within a few seconds don’t waste time and take action.

Get close to the victim while you reassure them and ask them to stay calm. Don’t just approach them without talking, you need to tell them that they will be fine as long as they calm down. Tilt their head back and start swimming towards the closest way to safety.

Conduct CPR in case the person is unconscious

This is extremely important to learn in case you are unable to rescue the person while they are still awake and conscious. This could mean the difference between someone living or dying, so learning CPR is a must for anyone even if they don’t own a pool or swim often.
