If you live in Houston, are you prepared for these colder months? At Life Saver Of Houston, we firmly believe in staying safe all year long. You are probably getting ready to shut your pull down for the winter if you haven’t already done so. Here are five vital swimming pool cold weather safety tips that you need to do.
1.) Tell Your Children to Stay Away
The pool is closed and your children need to understand this. The swimming pool area may have been a place for them to play in the warmer months, but not now. They need to understand this! Lay the law down and make sure they understand it.
2.) Get a Pool Cover That Fits Snugly
Invest in the right pool cover. The cover should be able to handle a great deal of weight and keep all debris out of the pool. If somebody should fall onto the cover, the cover should bear their weight. Animals will casually walk across this cover.
3.) Remove All Water Toys
Keeping all of the toys and the fun water-related items out of sight is important. Stick them in the attic until Spring if you have to. This will send another message that the pool is closed. It will help keep the children from climbing back into the pool area
.
4.) Close the Gate and Lock It
There is no reason to be around the pool so keep it closed and keep it locked. That is one great benefit to owning a Life Saver Of Houston pool fence… they automatically close and lock.
5.) Use This Time to Maintain and Improve Your Children’s Skills
Use this time to not only maintain your children’s skills, but to improve it. They have been practicing swimming all summer long, so you don’t want your children to lose these skills. Find a Fall and/or Winter swim class to enroll them in. If you can’t find a formal lesson to enroll them in, then at least find an indoor swimming pool where they can practice swimming.
Now, in the Winter months, is also a good time to install a safety, pool fence if you don’t already have one. Don’t wait until the swimming season starts again, install it now.
