This is a short, but important blog article. Don’t risk your family’s lives with a damaged swimming pool fence. It’s just not worth it!
You have probably been a thoughtful husband and father and either bought a home with a securely guarded swimming pool fence already installed. Or, you have installed a new swimming pool at your home and you have also taken the time and money and have had a pool fence installed. Just remember now, safety is not a one-time thing.
Safety is Something to Continuously Think About
There are far too many drownings. Especially among children. Drowning is the number 1 reason why children 4 and younger die. And, many more are permanently injured due to near-drowning events. Don’t let this happen in your family, please!
A near-drowning in my own family nearly 20 years ago is why I’m in this business. Read my personal story, here.
Here Are Some Things to Regularly Check
Once your pool fence is installed, you need to regularly check it to be sure that no issues have risen up that might make it somewhat unsafe. Here are some things that need to be regularly checked:
- In your pool fence gate closing and locking properly? All pool fences should have their gates self-closing and self-locking. If not, fix this immediately!
- Check for any gaps in your fence. This particularly important for pool fences that can be temporarily removed. Close these gaps immediately! Doing it tomorrow is not soon enough.
- Look for any holes in your fence. Ditto on what I have said above! Risking anybody’s life for even one day is not worth it.
- If you have any pool alarms, check to be sure they are working properly. Check the batteries… do they need replacing?
- Is there any other damage to the fence? Are the posts straight and secure? If there is any damage, fix it immediately. If you can’t fix it, call your pool fence dealer. Don’t wait!
