Morgan Miller Finally Shares Her Thoughts On Her Daughter’s Drowning

Morgan Beck Miller, the wife of U.S. Olympic Champion Bode Miller, was devastated by the death of her infant daughter Emmy (see our last blog posting for thesaving many from drowning full story). But, instead of wallowing in that pain, she decided to let her voice be heard in order to keep this kind of tragedy from happening again.  Morgan mentioned how it all happened so fast and how their lives changed in an instant.

She said that it is her hope that no one parent ever experiences this pain. Morgan commented that it seems like people are scared of many dangers that could harm their children, but drowning, the number one cause of death, is not in most parent’s minds when they think of immediate danger for their children.

There was another grieving mother that lost her son on the exact same day that Bode and Morgan Miller lost their child. Nicole Hughes also shared her story and she has been joined by Morgan to help spread the word in regards to the importance of pool safety.

She is quick to mention that parents need to keep an eye on their children when they are at any location that is near a pool, but she also reminds everyone that pool owners have to be responsible with their property. A pool that is protected by a fence can make a huge difference in these situations.

Bode and Morgan are also parents to another 3-year-old son and they expect their third child this October. They are both committed to the process of spreading awareness and Morgan has been very vocal and determined to ensure the safety of infants in areas with pools.

Bode and Morgan Miller are just one of many couples who have lost their children in a drowning incident. This kind of accident can be prevented with basic safety measures, so if you know anyone in your area who owns a pool be sure to let them know about the importance of securing their pool area as soon as possible. They can save many lives this way.
